The Big Come Back Of The 70'S :Stripe it out

BIG, bold stripes are making a comeback this year, in the process, beating out the loud digital prints that threatened to take their place last year. Different designers around the world, from Christian Dior to Moschino, Marc Jacob, Paul and Joe to mention a few, have showcased trendy and unique pieces using different fabrics,
colours and shapes to make fashion statements. While some have added a little twist to keep designs fresh and innovative, others have gone steps ahead with stripes on their runway looks: thick or skinny, horizontal or vertical, black and white or red and white; even in navy blue and white, aiming for a nautical flair. However, do not let the stripes stop at your wardrobe. This trend could equally look fabulous on the walls of your apartment. All you need do is pop your stripes with some bright colours. FOR a more slimming silhouette, stay away from horizontal lines, as they visually add width and volume. Wear them on top to balance wide hips and make sure the hemline doesn't end on your widest part! Vertical lines on the other hand gives a slimmer and longer visual design illusion, diagonal is mostly slimming – but not in stretchy fabrics as the lines will look distorted. You can find stripes in other colours too. Look for vertical or diagonal striped garments to go with the smallest part of your body. Author of this article: BY OYINDAMOLA LAWAL
